Amy Stewart Winsor is a quilt artist and instructor from Morrisville, North Carolina  who doesn’t  measure, doesn’t make templates, avoids matching corners,  never plans ahead, and  usually fudges the rules.  Her workshops are especially directed toward Precision-Impaired Quilters like herself. 

    In many of her quilts, free motion quilting  made of cursive writing tells stories and messages all over the quilt. 

    She teaches nationally, and enthusiastically encourages her students to find the techniques they enjoy most, and to spend their quilting time frolicking in the fabric instead of stressing out. 

Amy's work has been published in Great American Quilts 2003, AQS Quilt Art Engagement Calendar 2003, Spray Fun,  and America From the Heart--Quilters Remember September 11, 2001, and has been exhibited internationally. Her quilt, “Make An Appointment” won Viewers Choice at World Quilt &Textile in 2002.

Amy’s work has been exhibited in a solo show, “Creations of a Precision Impaired Quilter” at the 2004 MidAtlantic Quilt Festival, and in a two person show, “On the Bright Side”, with Mickey Depre at  the 2004 Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza and 2004 Pacific International Quilt Festival.

One of her pieces, "The Opera Quilt", hangs in the A.J. Fletcher Opera Theatre in the BTI Center in Raleigh, NC.
